W126 sec 500

Blimey, must have taken about a week to write all of that!

my god,,this guy should get a job writing for porn sites,,i was almost wanting to make mad love to his car by the end of reading that:o

Isn't Bygone Mercedes the windbag who stole bolide's W124 photos from his www.w124 site & then had the nerve to claim false copyright on them?

I'm sure there's a thread or a few posts about it on here.

I've no idea, but he does seem to find some nice cars and despite his windbag descriptive approach, he does seem to have a good reputation from people who have bought from him...

hmm if you dont read his text and look past the interior valet, look closely at the pics, seems to me it has had the same usual SEC pitfalls..

damp carpets, trim coming away etc etc.

I've got to admit this guy's ebay listings are a pet hate of mine.

He clearly believes in the baffle them with bullsh1t sales technique & I find his completely OTT descriptions and stupid hyperbole annoying.

The alloys have been "extensively refurbished," the rear seat "majestically support's it's passenger" in an "abundance of room," the grille isn't any old grille it's a "single split racing chrome grille," the green paint isn't a no no & hard to sell it's "Mercedes most stylish & eloquent colour co-ordination for this model. not to mention the most expensive option." Every paragraph yields more BS.

He breezes past know trouble spots such as the "luggage area" & guffs on for 5 or 6 lines about the Town & Country horn. If the underside of the parcel shelf is indeed rust free & almost as new then I'd have thought he'd have had a word or several hundred to say about it.

He tries valiantly to make a ten year gap in his MOT history sound like a good thing -
MOT/MILEAGE VERIFICATION;

The vehicles mileage can be traced right back to 1999 via 9 authentic MOT papers ( present).

He bangs on & on & on about the car's documanted full service history - The engine has no variations whilst idling - In short this vehicles full service history is clearly apparant from the very first moment you turn the key & yet there are gaps of 5 YEARS in the service records & this 25 year old car has been serviced only 10 times instead of the recommended once p.a.

Were Factory lowered sports line suspension and upgrade braking system available on any W126?

Reading the first third or so (gave up after that) of the ad it seems the seats have been retrimmed & the headlining replaced - on a 50,000 mile creampuff it just doesn't add up.

I reckon this guy is trying to sell Mercedes to people who don't actually know very much about Mercedes.

Yes - I am pretty sure he did steal Nick Froome's pictures a few months back.

I also agree, the adverts are a case of absolute waffle and plenty of B.S.

Those seats don't look like original MB leather to me - probably a hasty re-trim. Looking at the door cards I'm not even sure if it originally had leather at all?

I assume he bought it cheap, had a cheap retrim and general tart up, spent a whole day writing a waffle-filled advert and is hoping to double his money.

Will

The seats definately aint right.

Theres a lot that isn't right with it. Firstly he claims 293 horsepower from a Generation 1 500 engine - in reality it's nearer 235. If I remember rightly a euro spec non-cat 560 engine is the only W126 engine which gave that kind of output.
The wheels are non standard, the leather doesn't look right, the wood on the centre console is quite simply atrocious - it doesn't fit !!!
The car looks like it's been subject to a refurb using cheap Taiwanese parts bought off eBay & he has the cheek to describe it as concours ?!?!?

I reckon that wood gearlever surround is from a nother car/model?
I read as far as it floats like a cloud:D

Good to see that no expense has been spared on hthe "Kenda" tyres. Wouldn't have them on my wheelbarrow, let alone a car that is being hyped by he seller like this thing is!

Just looked again and at 5200 it still hasn't met reserve......incredible!

The shagpile carpets don't look very original either :D

Here's a response I've had from the seller about the service history:

The proven service history of the vehicle is exactly as stated within the listing. I can confirm that the policy of Mercedes Benz is to have there vehicles serviced every 6K miles not per annum. It is routine that at 6k miles the service work being carried out is mainly lubricant, where as at 12k miles the vehicle requires a full (major) service and so on every 6k miles. It is also usual for vehicles of this caliber to have intermittent work as well carried out, as the case with this motor car. The service work i have listed is only the service work entered into the service book, stamped by the garage concerned. The last 2 were both full major services (documented). There is also a file full of documentation to prove intermittent service work to the car (present). Since the last major service the vehicle has traveled little over 3k miles and has been kept in a heated garage at all times. kind regards

So by his reckoning if a Merc does only 5k miles in 10 years it doesnt need to be serviced in that time.......what absolute hogwash!
