So after giving my girl the full body treatment, I'm getting underneath for a waxoyl. Any pointers on what I should get done - squirting in sills? take off bumpers / wings and get those done too? How far have you guys gone with the waxoyl coats and what are the pros and cons? Ta!

Hi
Waxoyl, Dinatrol they are all good products, Dinatrol offer a better selection of wax treatments for different parts of the car... My advice would be on a warm summers day hire a small compressor from HSS and buy a £20-40 wax spay gun and a 1m extended nozzle from Ebay running at 70psi for the box sections. The pump and spray gun that's normally supplied with the Waxoyl tin is a complete waste of time it just doesn't get the wax into all the hard to get internal places.... A all in one decorator suit might be a good idea. 10L of Waxoyl should be enough..... good luck its mighty messy ;-)

extremely messy... I wear a disposable bodyshop suit, carrier bag on my head and goggles....

yes people point and laugh... and even them im still scraping waxoyl off myself days after

Neutralize any visible rust as it can migrate under the Waxoyl.
Waxoyl isn't always a "perfect' rust incapsulator as the application can become permeable.

Thanks RBYCC, I'll be sure to get rid of rust before applying the Waxoyl. How much of the car would you suggest getting done? Shall I get into the sills? Into the chrome bumpers?

In the USA not much..in the U.K. best to dip it into a huge vat of Waxoyl..;)

I wouldn't worry about the bumpers as the steel is fairly thick.
Sheet metal is what the tinworm really likes !
Sills and any other crevice that can hold road dirt and moisture.

Generation 2 chrome bumpers rust badly from the underneath - take them off and treat the underside of the chrome sections .

Yep I sprayed all of mine with waxoyl after first coating the insides with red primer.

thanks guys, i think prevention is wise. There isn't a dot of rust on the bumpers or body, so prob worth going all the way with the waxoyl.

I have yet to do the W116 but certainly intend to. Every cavity is a must particularly the sills and the particularly the doors which have a tendency to rot from the inside.

Had my clk done at jr classics near doncaster even stayed overnight excellent job.

essential for keepers. and even for ones intended to sell on. a spotless body and bottom puts pounds on to the value.

I've slapped on as much as possible with the car on stands, having a proper job done would be better though. I did get all the nooks and crannies, but not inside the sills or any other hollow sections.
Did the backs of the bumper chromes too.

+1 about the mess, absolutely covered, had to use white spirit in the shower and still had waxoyl in my hair for days..

Took all the plastic off sills doors etc to get at the jacking points on my W 124 was really easy and well worth it waxoils the best.

ive been sizing up a few pro outfits to get a proper all over in and out nooks and crannies treatment. plenty of previous threads on here with good experiences so that is reassuring. cant see myself getting stuck in. but what about dinitrol...?

I've heard some very good reports about Bilt Hamber. Might be worth looking into.

photos of the job ON THE RAMP

Hi All, So here's a few pics of the job I had done. Got all underside, wings, sills, doors, rear shelf and bumper chromes done.

Waxoyl photos cont

Its not the retail waxoyl, but the stuff they paint oil rigs with. No smell. Black on the bottom and clear wax in the sills doors and wings. 5 year guarantee. Yearly check up.
