My car (s600 1998) according to my mechanic needs a new brake master cylinder.

The car had new brake lines, (corroded) hoses, rear disks and pads fitted. It passed its MOT and then days later the brakes felt spongy. The brakes have been bled a few times and even a used cylinder was fitted, but no joy.

The problem is the part is now discontinued (A0054308101). Hunting high and low, but cannot find one. I have read on some other forums that you need to do something with solenoid attached to the cylinder, when bleeding the brakes.

I have ordered a repair kit, but that is not due to arrive for at least 3 weeks.

Any ideas?

There are specialist companies will rebuild your original master cylinder--- if it's pitted or scored any new seals will wear rapidly- repair normally involves inserting a stainless steel sleeve machined to original dimensions-- this is just one of them there are others
