Folks
The issue is on my wife's 1993 600SEC. The drivers door drops the window a quarter inch like it should when opened and pops it back again when it's closed. The passenger side doesn't work and leaves the window slightly lower all the time, with the annoying whistling effect at 50mph+ that's to be expected.
The diagnostic gadget told me the following errors in "IFZ" system (whassat?):
002 FL door actuator S47 -//-
007 lock 1 TT+ S86/1, S87/1, S88/2
008 lock 2 TT+ S86/1, S87/1, S88/2
I think the first means open circuit and the others mean shorted to +.
S47 is apparently the left front "door actuator". So it actuates what? The lock? Might this have anything to do with the problem? the door locks and unlocks in the IR remote locking ok.
I'll try to take the door trim off to see if I can see anything - however by body/chassis manual only covers the W140 4-door and not the 2-door (Murphy's Law strikes again) so:
Does the actuator fault code (which hasn't recurred since I cleared the faults this morning) have anything to do with the window raise/lower on opening the door?
I notice that I can repeatedly press the window "up" button and shut the gap, however sometimes (and I noticed this when pulling up at a junction) it drops again as if it thinks the door is open.
Pressing the switch in the door reveal causes the seat belt extender to come out (it bashed me on the ear and made me jump a yard in the air!), but the window quarter-inch-drop seems to be controlled from somewhere else. Does anyone have any info on this? Also does anyone know how to take the coupe door trims off?
Thanks for you help!
cheers
Dave
