Hi - crawled under my 1993 500SE W140 today to top up the diff oil. The drain plug is clearly there but I cannot see (or feel) the top up plug.
Can anyone help?
Cheers
Kieron

Its normally 1/2 way up the side of the nosepiece casting. It functions as a filler and level guide= fill till the oil starts to run out. You may need some sort of syringe or squeezy container to put the oil in from below.

p.s. check you don't have a ASD [ electronic LSD] type diff as it it uses different fluid --in fact an entirely different type of system altogether!
