Hello - my first post :) .

I just bought a 1997 W140 S320, only 43000 miles on the clock; everything works and I'm very happy but I do have one problem.

The internal hinged bracket that holds the mirrors to the door has broken at the top on both mirrors, so they droop about 1cm and leave a gap for the rain to get inside; I'd like to fix it before the mirrors stop working or the bracket breaks at the bottom and they fall off!

Can anyone tell me if the W140 power fold door mirrors are the same ones fitted to any other MB models please?

I suppose the other option is to dismantle and MIG weld the bracket?

TIA,

Q.

These are your mirror that have the folding motors, any part number shown should be available as a spare part

I doubt you will mig weld it as it's cast aluminium alloy.
The mirrors are the same as fitted to W210 E-class and W202 C-class, but obviously you need the power folding ones.

You can sucessfully repair the frame with epoxy glue as long as it is well supported with something such as wire passed through small holes in either side of the break and twisted tight.

Welcome to the forum.

Are you sure they're not a bit bigger than those on the 202? Seem it to me....
