Hi all
Newbie to the group here, my name is Surj.
I've recently bought my first W140 S class, and I'm having issues with high CO emissions. The other parameters were within the required limits I'm told, but the CO was around 3.62%vol I think (limit is 0.5%). From what I understand, this is due to the engine running "rich". Can anyone please point in me in the right direction on common causes, or what to check (coolant temp sensor resistances, O2 sensor testing, etc)? Will try to get full test values and add to the post.
There are no other noticeable symptoms except for a strong odour from the exhaust. Air filter looks new. Oil service was supposedly done not long ago, but I will get one done soon as a precaution (maybe a major service with spark plugs, etc). Fuel pressure gauge doesn't seem to be letting-by. Garage recommended Forte Emissions Reducer, which hasn't helped even after 200 odd miles of motorway driving.
Many thanks in advance!!
