Hi

I am struggling to find tyres for my W140 S-class, the size is 235/60/16. I am being told by most tyre suppliers that the premium brands don’t produce this size for cars anymore.

Is this normal with older Mercedes? Can anyone recommend a supplier that may be able to help?

Thanks

Tan

It's normal with older cars in general - unless the size rolled down to current models the demand falls off significant. An example is 265/40R17 which was specified for things like 90s Alpinas and the Lotus Carlton, very difficult to get hold of now.

Protyre and Camskill both list the Conti Premium 6 and Bridgestone Turanza in 235/60R16. That size is now found on recent SUVs, so a road-based tyre might also work such as the EfficientGrip SUV which will be in plentiful supply.
