W163 ML Central locking problem

I have a ML320 2000.

The central locking is really playing up. It does two things :

1) The central locking automatically locks once you set off and reach 10 mph. It still deos this but instead of just locking, it locks and then opens again and then locks again. All the locks all round the car do this. So they close then bounce open again and then lock again. After this they stay locked, until i come to stop, set off and reach 10 mph again where they repeat the above even if they are already locked.

2) It does the same thing when i lock the car with my fob. It will lock then just open again and then lock again. This is all the locks all around.

I dont think this is similar to the bouncy lock problem that other mercedes sometimes experience. Any ideas as to what maybe be causing this?

I've read about this problem on the american MB forums.
They call it the 'machine gun' problem.Seems to happen more on earlier pre-facelift MLs.Hope that helps...
I had a similar problem on my almera gti every now and then,especially when it rains or damp.Faulty/damp solenoid was the problem.

Its all the locks that open and close?

If it is one of the door contact switches is probably faulty

Yep Olly its all the locks opening and closing together. Ill check all the contact switches and hopefully will be one of those, will post back...
