This evening as I pulled away the ABS & ESP warning illuminated...switching off & back on did not reset. When I later tried to pull away initially there was a lot of creaking & the car refused to move...after that I drove it home with no issues.

Tomorrow I will look at the OBD codes but are there any obvious/common issues with this warning.

thanks

Not sure about the creaking, but some typical causes for ESP/ABS fault are:

1. Weak battery (low voltage)

2. Faulty rear brake light switch (under the brake pedal)

3. Faulty wheel sensor - should be flagged up by STAR

4. Under-inflated or mismatched tyres

5. Faulty steering wheel angle sensor (ring under steereing wheel) - should be flagged-up by STAR

6. Faulty ABS unit

Good Luck....

A reset technique - leave vehicle parked overnight. Start engine, do not move off, turn to full lock then in opposite direction, repeat twice.....then move off.

This has worked for many.

Thereafter follow "markjay" advice.
