Car
w164 ml320 cdi
Have came across a wmall problem on my dads ml320 cdi 2006.

The car will not crank at all.

Battery is fine and has been tested.
Main engine fusebox is getting a feed.

Plugged in a snap on diagnostic computer. Main engine ecu is not sending any can signals to any other module and does not respond when you try to read it.

Correct lights come on position 2. But no crank.

Have had a wee look at a circuit diagram and i can see that the engine control unit has a 100a fuse on it and an engine control relay. For the life of me cant find it. So i can check to see if the ecu is getting a feed.

The car has had a similar problem before. A local merc specialist had the car and explained it was a relay which acts as an earth. Pin 15 relay or something similar. But again on the circuit diagram. Cant see it.

Anyone any suggestions? Is there a hidden fusebox apart from the one in the front of the engine compartment?

Many thanks

Greg

There are some pretty heavy duty fuses and relays in the battery compartment under the seat. I would look in there .

I have removed the seat and checked. All ok. Looks like i will need to find the ecu and check that is getting fed.

Does anyone know if the ecu earths via a relay? Or there is anyway of identifying the relays in the engine compartment?
