As per the title; the poxy piece of crap design is STILL leaking, despite a brand new OE seal. I notice, though, that now there is moisture on the metal cagework bulbholder, but none on the bodywork just below the new seal, which is where it was leaking in before. Does this chime with others' experience, and I misunderstood other posts, or am I just (un)lucky? Presumably plenty of silicone sealant all the way round where the lens assembly is glued to the black plastic body of the cluster would do the trick?

THere must be an answer, surely, This piece is interesting...https://blog.soenneker.com/how-to-fix-leaky-mercedes-tail-lights-and-everything-else-they-broke-86a689bbe416. Any opinions? It makes sense to me.

I only found one part number for the seal, and that has the adhesive side facing outwards, not inwards towards the body, on the RH cluster.

The peril of posting late on when you're half-asleep and keen to get to bed...

There are indeed two part numbers, as the blogger says. I fitted the correct OE seal (with the adhesive facing the body) today. I should have known MB wouldn't make a cockup like that, but it was late...Doh!

It;s going to be pelting down tomorrow, and I expect not a drop to get through this time. More anon.

Disappointed again; still leaking...

I'm going to try something like this: Pardon our interruption...

from the small boat world and see if that does any good. If I park facing down a slope, and apply it liberally from above along the top of the black plastic part of the cluster, with luck it might end up running down and round to where it's needed. Unless anybody has any other ideas...

We sell that at work...great name!...but its not really designed for what you want to use is for...its not really a sealant, it's just a strong glue that stops cracks in fibre glass and plastic growing further. We use it on old style ABS plastic front and rear caravan panels as a temp fix.

Bugger...

Hiya,
Has anyone had water fall on their lap when performing an emergency brake?! I've recently been having water appear on the load cover.....where exactly that comes from is yet to be discovered.

Honestly.... disappointed is an understatement & after reading the review of MB fitting the rear light cluster seal on backwards, it's no wonder water is getting in..... Makes me wonder what other seals were applied incorrectly at the factory and what other seals are going to be letting in water.

Had the spare out, all is dry around the SAM from what I can assertain, but the water appears in the rear arches under the clusters..... From what I can see there is some water getting in alongside the floor panel... Or that could be moisture from the water in the rear arches. Obviously this needs sorting before it gets any worse..... So?

Will check high brake light for leaks, windows, and the rear cluster seals... How much are they from MB.... Probably extortionate?

Finally though, how and where the hell does water come from under an emergency brake.... I've literally no idea on that one, other than it's getting in through the roof rails somehow and filling the cavity above the doors.... Seriously?!

Have you checked that all of the drains are unblocked? I’d be looking at the sunroof drains first.
