I got fed up with the power supply of my sat nav being in the front cubby/ashtray so I got a short extension, plugged into the rear outlet, ran it up under the drivers seat and plugged the sat nav power supply in there.

Great I thought. All was rosy and I could close the front asthtray, use the cup holders etc etc. It worked great for a few days and then the rear outlet stopped switching off with the ignition! What the fu?????

How do I get it to switch off with the ignition again?

You can get inline cigarette lighter adapters like this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07594WT6K/?tag=amazon0e9db-21
You can solder it into the existing front lighter wiring, or use scotchloks if you like a gamble, then hide it all under the dash.
Run the lead to where you want to mount your sat nav, much better than having it loose inside the car.
If you do then a little tip. Plug the lead into the new socket after you have fitted it, and wrap it well with insulating tape, that way the plug wont come out of the socket with vibration, use zip ties to secure everything and save rattles.
