Hi

Hope everyone is well. Would really appreciate some thoughts and advice.

Last year for almost two weeks the car would not start. I changed the battery. Left the battery disconnected in a hope to clear the fault. It still wouldn't start. We then had it towed to an Indie. It started first time and they couldn't find a fault.

It worked fine until.

This year from mid June the exact same thing happened. Wouldn't start for a week. This time I changed the batteries in the Key Fob, suddenly IT WORKED! This only lasted for a week before the problem returned. I changed the key fob batteries again, but it still won't work.

Here's what happens
- Unlock car with key fob. Works fine.

- Insert key to ignition barrel and turn. All fine, dash lights come on as normal.

- Turn key to start. There is a electrical type buzz noise. But that's it. The car does not even attempt to start. The engine dies not even attempt to turn over.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

Thanks
R

Hi Guys - I'm still stuck with this, so would appreciate any thoughts/ideas?

Thanks very much

Classic symptoms of a duff starter motor or ignition switch.

Time to get the testlight or voltmeter out.
What is the voltage between starter motor main terminal and starter body when it buzzes?
Also give the engine to chassis earth strap a good check.

I agree sounds like the starter motor, the buzzing noise sounds like the fuel pump getting energized so its getting to that stage.
