Hello I have a W169 A class facelift A180 CDi. I'm wondering if anyone has installed any sound deadening/ insulation under the bonnet.

I did ring up the dealers to see if it was meant to have any, but they said no. No A-Classes have any.

it looks like there's space to install some. - Any recommendations on what to buy?

It doesnt come as standard but the dealers sell a kit.

I've used NoiseKiller products self adhesive sound deadening material to put on my wheel arches and inside bulkhead. Worked a treat. They have other engine bay specific products too which my firend has tried and worked. Soundproofing Materials - Sound Proofing & Noise Reduction Specialists » Noise Killer

Note, I don't work for them!

Hello,
Sorry for revive this topic after 3 years, but as a w169 owner this is the only real web-reference related to bonnet insulation.
So, npuk, can you kindly advise part no/official name for this bonnet insulation kit? My delear is unable to find it and he is advising me that there is no such part for W169.

Thank you!

I have looked in EPC. There is no sound proofing for W169. There is for W245.

Hi, Dynamat is a very good self adhesive product that is a bitumastic based material covered in a reflective foil. 'Cereal packet' templates can be cut out and easily traced around and Stanley knifed out on a piece of scrap ply.

Suggest that you check with Main Dealer before applying to underside of bonnet. Advice to me was that some cars in model range have this but others do not for design reasons.

I'm my case - W124 300 TE - heat resistant material was specified, but on our son' s 200 it was not. Strange but true.

Would this help to reduce that irritating CVT whine our car suffers from!

Thanks guys,

I will try to find 3rd party solutions, after 190K km my Merc is quite noisy - or at least that's my impression.
