I need advise to confirm the following:
I own a W203 sport edition 2006 with meory pack and Comand APS, I toock the car for my first service today and I told my dealer to do the following programming:
1 -Enable the outside mirrors parking (aoto folding)
2 -Enable memory key dependent
3 -Enable remaining fuel display
4 -Enable the alarm to beep (Netherland coding)
5 -Adjust the driver seat easy entry
6 -Update the comand software to display ATA

Result??

1 OK
2 mercedes do not longer program this feature ?
3 can not be done?
4 Sory we can not program to Netherland code?
5 Sory not longer available foe safety reason?
6 you need to get the latest navigation disk?

Could please someone confirm this
thanks:rolleyes:

I have remaining fuel displayed. Was done on the Star when I have auto folding mirrors - also you can have tyre pressure monitor done too...

2 and 5 are no longer possible with newer cars, I'm not sure why 2 was removed but 5 was because of some US lawsuit against BMW i believe.

The typical i did something stupid but its your fault kind of thing that they love to sue others for.

3 is possible as is 4 and 6 but I'm not sure if 4 is legal here or not?

They should have the navi disk in stock to get ETA on the headunit.

Thats scarey...

I asked exactly the same thing yesterday from an Indie I visited to talk about my Carlsson unit.

I too have a W203 Sport and wanted

1 - Tyre Pressure Warner
2 - UK variant deactivation ie Outside temp in place of KPH
3 - Tank range display.

He had a quick go with the Star but couldn't figure out the menu settings to get to the tyre perssure so that was as far as I got. I need to go back maybe next week if my Carlsson ever turns up so I was hoping for some more info.

Its possible only the likes of Command or Miro will be able to do the tank range in which case I'll have to get it booked with them as well ?.

Cheers
Adam

Hi All,

I have "parked" my desire to get all these things done. Mainly because I have a little boy looking for some specific presents for christmas and need to use the funds for that!!

But - and here comes my point- when I do have the funds, where in Livingston/Edinburgh can I get the changes done through an indie with STAR. Anyone know of any?? (I have asked this before but forgot to note it down and can find the thread again - doh!!!)

Simon

With a lot of these mods, as well as just having a STAR machine , the chap needs to know his onions as well .... the main dealer has just proved that by telling the OP that some can't be done, when we know that they can ....

You may need to have a weekend away in Surrey , Kent or Berkshire to get these sorted ... ;)

Whatever happens , i hope you get it sorted .

Merc07, All 3 are easy enough to do mate like Howard said you just need to find a tech who knows his options lists.

2's the most complex because its mostly a blocked setting on the SDS's

Anyone able to suggest a ballpark cost to have the above done?
Well its all software changes about 30mins with a good tech and double checking it works.

Perhaps budget for an hour in case anything unexpected turns up

For 2 your going to need an "unlocked" SDS so it rules a dealer out and the Indy's have to be willing to ask Merc for the pw also.

The problem is, as I have been told before, the tech needs to know his stuff. The indie / Carlsson dealer I went to would probably have done it for beer money, but couldn't figure it out ?

Miro on his travels has done it for £20 per mod in the past.

The main dealer I know would do the UK mode for free as I asked them when I first bought the car - not sure about the tyre pressure or tank range. Maybe ask them during a service.

Command.co.uk charge an hourly rate. They know their stuff - if you want an hours worth of mods / checks then they would be the best option.

PS sorry hercules for nicking your thread...
Cheers
Adam

Very interesting thread. Here is what we can do;

1). Yes provided your door controllers support it.
2). Yes I think so. I'll check.
3). Yes
4). Probably possible. Have not tried.
5). Probably possible. Have not tried.
6). You need to get version 6.1 or newer not necessarily the very latest disk.

You can also have Tyre pressure loss warning enabled, active cornering lights and Uk variant coding.

We charge a flat rate for one hour, if it goes over 1 hour we dont charge any extra. We also run a full sweep on the car to see if there are any errors logged or problems looming.

I didn't know about easy entry being unavailable now - that's quite a big feature (to some people) isn't it?

Also, I'd always been under the impression that if you had memory seats then auto-fold mirrors were available from the cluster menu?

The problem the dealer has with the other features is that they're not supposed to modify the cars from the standard spec - and to do so requires sequences which they don't normally have access to.

I would recommend Alfie and Command.co.uk - what he and Richard don't know abour Star isnt worth knowing - sorted out everything I wanted...

Top guys to do business with...

Out of interest Alfie - what is the flat rate and do you only cover a specific area?

Easy entry is bordering on essential for me in the C-Class. Wouldn't be with out it now.

What is easy entry??
Easy entry is what MB call the little feature that raises and retracts the steering wheel and drives the seat rearward to make it easier to get in and out of the car.

Removed now unfortunately, I've tried to get it to function on newer cars (06 and up) unsuccessfully.
