52774702-A333-408F-BAE9-E7BBDFD2C368.jpeg Hello, first post. Hope this all finds you well. I’ve been cleaning my engine bay, replaced the crumbling foam insulation and hoovered out the bits inside the bay too (not from removal as I put a sheet over as I was removing). Anyway, I found this errant red pipe/wire/vacuum hose? And don’t know where it goes or what it does. Can anyone please enlighten me? Thank you.

Can’t go to far as it’s fairly short and tied to the other pipes. What about the solenoid I can see under the wiper scuttle, is it some kind of coolant valve

Well spotted - the heater hotwater valve you mentioned is vacuum operated-the vacuum line is attached to the actuator diaphragm by a short pipe on the top -see picture

Fabulous, thank you both. I did feel that and wondered if something needed to be connected to the top. I will try that today. Not hopeful on getting vacuum though as rubber has perished. I will let you know how I get on.

All fitted today. Thanks all.
