Is this a common failure item? It's either this or a fuel heater? that is leaking on a friends car. Not seen it so only had a quick look on the EPC.

Hi Andy,

Any pics?

I'm sure there won't be a fuel heater on a petrol car, only diesels have them to stop fuel waxing.

That's what I thought hence me thinking it was the fuel regulator. I'll see what I can find out.

What's the age of the car. A picture of the offending item would help. If its an early car it could be the warm up regulator. Its normally bolted to the cylinderhead. If its a later model it might be the electro-hydraulic regulator bolted to the side of the fuel distribution unit ( black unit with an electrical connection.

Thanks. It turns out it was this unit that has cracked so he's ordered a new one - £260!

Yikes!

Ebay or someone breaking a 190E?

I'm breaking a 2.3-16 but don't know if it's the same part.

Different injection system isn't it? Worth keeping an eye on as the specialist he bought the part from seems to think it's a common failure item.

Just removed a blown engine from a 190 and still have the fuel distribution unit as in Grobers link if it is of any use.

His wife didn't want a 2nd hand unit in case it leaked petrol on the engine and caught fire. Not sure it was worth arguing!
