Hi there, i am looking at getting either a w124 or w201 as they seem to last quite well in nz.
I think the mid 70's mercs used a fluid flywheel in place of a torque converter and pulled away in second as first was too low except on hills or for towing. Do the latter versions use a fluid flywheel or have they gone over to a torque converter.... no real difference in know both do a similar job in a different way only for my personal interest.
Do the w124 0r w201 have a converter lock up clutch that engages at about 50 or 60 mph, if so does it do it smoothly, my bmw was so bad i had to convert it to a manual.
