Car died today - Whilst driving out of a car park. It turns over, but does not fire. New battery, new sparks - both about 500 miles old. 1/2 tank of fuel.

I'm guessing the fuel pump relay or fuel pump itself. I used to be able (sometimes) to hear the fuel pump, nr the filler cap when someone was starting it, but now cannot.

Can any one point me in the right direction for locating these parts on the car and supplying part numbers, or have any other ideas ?

Crankshaft sensor is much more likely.

Mine did the same a couple of years ago its the crank sensor located rear of engine next to bulkhead cost about £90

Thanks Olly. With basic home tools, is there any way of testing if it is the sensor or relay ? Would this cause it to die whilst running ?

Changed the FPR. - Only as I don't have the tools to diagnose properly , crankshaft sensor or FPR is causing the problem. Problem (so far) has gone away. I did the relay first as it is cheaper and easier to get to than the Crankshaft sensor. I also changed the MAS (and got one cheap from MB). Car now drives properly, without the flatspot I was used to.
