W202 722.6 Auto Box

Hi,
Ive got a 98 W202 C180 with 722.6 auto box, 72k mls. It has a sharp/hard downchange from 3rd to 2nd both on a hill and kickdown. It changes sweetly in all other situations.
12345 no problem.
543 no problem.
32 problem.
21 no problem.
Fluid is 10k mls old and levels OK. BTW the problem was there prior to fluid filter change.
Any advice and suggestions appreciated.

Mine had a few hard changes and when I read and erased fault codes it was ok after (fault read comunication error)

Hi, I know this is an old thread but did you find a solution? I think I have the same issue.

auto box fault

I have had same problem, fault was the white vacuum pipe from the inlet manifold to auto box had come apart/split. I reconected pipe and has been fine since. Hope this helps?
