W202 AMG Bumpers

The margin differs for everything and I think they make a killing on some items as I've had 40% off etc.

Very few parts get that sort of discount, as retail punters you'll be lucky to get much more than 15% off, the 10% the parts website gives is the norm.

Forget Inchcape, how about I speak to MB Manchester parts and see how much they'd do it for. I've known most of them for years and have had some spectacular deals in the past.
If we're buying up to let's say 5 full kits then they might show some decent interest. In the end there are two numbers, the amount it costs them and the amount they sell it for. The margin differs for everything and I think they make a killing on some items as I've had 40% off etc. If they can whittle the margins down a bit while still making it worth their time then we all win.

Also the front bumper seems to be the most expensive bit, I was considering one of these:

The rest of the bodykit is hideous but it's modern AMG-style and costs peanuts from Rieger Tuning, peddlars of barryboy-tat. I think that, coupled with factory AMG sideskirts and rear bumper would be almost tasteful! :)

But with that bumper, you would need to buy the rest of the kit too or not?

On the previous not, I would be willing to put my name down for a kit Nick, that depends on if they are willing to offer a good discount. :bannana:

Do the sideskirts have pop-out bits for the jack points?

No, the jacking points are hidden by the skirts. But, I thought about this before I bought the kit and got around this problem by purchasing a small bottle jack from my local motor factors, it was around £10-£15 and had 1.5 tonne SWL. It would have easily fit under the skirts and lifted from the flat floorpan jacking points and fit nicely into the spare wheel well with a little foam padding cut out to suit, which also held the tool-kit and some spare fuses and bulbs  . Wish I took a pic before the car went bye-byes....:(

Are the C43 bumpers the same size as the facelift bumpers. if they are i might go and collect them in my own car.
looking at shude post he managed to fit them in his car.

Yes they are pretty much the same size, think the rear one is a bit deeper, however the main issue is the length / width which remains the same as the standard facelift bumpers. Keep some dust sheets in the car to protect your seats and hook the bumper around the passenger seat as shown by Shude's pictures.

I can tell you it was a lot easier to transport the bumpers and sideskirts in my previous W202 which had folding rear seats!

Sideskirts and rear bumper? - EBAY

Wow - getting some serious mileage on this thread !!!!:bannana:
It's a good thread and apparently there are a few people interested in AMG or other tuner bodykits.

It's a shame that Brabus don't make their W202 bodykit any more. That said it was pretty dull and cost about £5k so...

Meanwhile I'm developing an interest in the WALD kit in classifieds.

I've collected the bumpers, they are in a good condition and don't need respraying. There are a few minor marks on the rear bumper but the marks should polish out. One of the fog lamps glass has got a crack on it but it's not too bad.
The cable which connects the fog lamps to the headlamps is missing and one of the fog lamp is missing the cable from the bulb to the outer case of the fog lamp.
Does any one have the part number for the cables?

The only problem i have is that my car is a elegance model so the door moleding is the darker silver and has a chrome strip in it. Is it possible to spray the chrome silver?

I'm proberly going to fit the bumpers on next week, cant wait.

Yes would recommend getting the door mouldings painted body colour and de chromed however I would recommend getting a professional body shop to do this as the paint can peel over time and allow the chrome to become visable again.

Good stuff, theres a guide on how to install the front bumper and there should soon be one on the back bumper. Be sure to take plenty pics for us to see :D

You may even be able to buy the door molding trims in the correct silver. Is your car a facelift or pre-facelift?

Good luck fitting the bumpers, it will look nice. Then you'll be looking for side skirts, upgraded wheels & exhaust :D It's addictive :)

Shipping will cost a fortune, and they're just fibreglass replicas, so what's the quality/fitting going to be like?
