W202 C200 Engine overheating

The viscous clutch is a finned alloy casting onto which the plastic fan is bolted. the bimetal strip is the darker (orange in picture) rectangular metal strip across the centre. Road muck can get stuck behind it/coat it which may prevent it from functioning properly. be very careful not to damage it or the valve pin if you decide to clean it.

Thanks, I will have to take a careful look at this to see if it does need a clean or not.

Quick update, I have not used the car for any long drive for a while so could not check the overheating problem properly.
But this weekend took the car to Wales (wedding) and the sun was out and sat in traffic in many places so it was hot to say the least. And it appears that the flush may have cured the problem. The temp needle only ever went as far as just below the next line after 80 mark so seems to be ok. I will keep an eye on things and see what happens.

btw i still have a smalll leak from the coolant level switch but cannot find any place for an O ring. I will try and post the part number of the item and see if anyone can check with MB parts/drawings if this is correct.
