Hello All, today I removed heaps of DIY cables the th4 previous owner installed, it's was crazy.

The below photo how's a earth cable connected to the bolt behind passenger headrest, but another wired frommthis batch is also connected to earth behind drivers side passenger back? What is this for?

Is this supposed to be there???

Thank you

It's generally fair to say that any wiring which is connected with blue crimp terminals, crimped bullet connectors or Scotchlocks and not run within the loom cloth is aftermarket.
Your last picture looks like a diode has been crimped into a circuit...for what reason is anyone's guess .

My guess is a high level brakelight.
It may have been wired to also come on as an additional rear foglight, in which case the diode would be to stop the current flow lighting the brake lights when the rear foglight is switched on.

This could also be to do with the Clifford alarm as the dealer fit Scorpian alarm wiring also fitted to most pre facelift W202’s was also routed this way. They never used scotch lock connectors though.

Dear Gurps, thank you for this, and agree cannot so much scotch connectors, but also oem don't really do the crimp connectors either?

As an imported car it wouldn't be unusual IMHO to find some modifications done to the wiring to conform to UK requirements. The original loom might also not be the same as on a UK/Europe one (think I remember reading this was the case with Japanese imports)?
