Greetings to all,
I've been reading all the MAF related threads here and on other Forums and have deduced that the MAF on my C240 is on the blink:
Sudden loss of Power twice in 2 days, cleared by ignition off and back on. Gradual loss of performance with intermittent days when the car feels really quick.
Erratic autobox shifts - again, some days really smooth and others hard shifting - Have had the level checked and its fine. (Steve from Mercare suggested the hard shifting could be the valve unit in the bottom of the gearbox but that wasn't a diagnosis - at £600 I think I will exhaust the other options first - plus it doesn't tally with the loss of power)
I removed the sensor and found it encrusted with dirt particles and cleaning it with a soft brush hasn't made a difference. I checked the airfilter and found the box full of dead wasps, sand grains etc - despite the car being 'serviced' before I collected it. This I believe is the probably cause along with the age - 98,000 miles and nearly 10 years old.
I'm going to try the car in a bit with the sensor disconnected but I'm pretty certain its the MAF.
So my question is this - sourcing a replacement?
The Part is a bosch PBT-GF30 F00C 2G2 025
I contacted airmassmeters.com and they were unable to identify the part from the number given which I find a little odd but they have suggested a Pierburg replacement for £97.40
GSF have two listed at £62 or £192.60 (plus VAT)
and Eurocarparts.com have a bosch unit complete for £103.49
I'm inclined to go for the Bosch unit from Euro Parts plus a new air filter but it seems cheap from what I've been reading.
Any suggestions, recommendations etc would be appreciated
Thanks
Nick
