W202 C250D HELP short motor

Hi All

I need some help;- My brother has a W202 C250D and he is not working and when the car blew a head gasket I stepped in to help out paying £1200 for the rebuild via Dave at Elite Autofix.

Then within about 300 miles it seems to have a problem with cylinder 3 whose compression is now 60psi.

Its only done 109,000 miles!

Dave thinks its either a compression ring or a hole. I am trying to keep the costs down so looking for ideas

I'm also thinking that a w202 short motor anybody got one or some other ideas

I bought a 50k mile W203 V6 C240 Petrol - complete engine with Warranty for £850 from Dronsfields.

You may be better just going straight down that route rather than attempting re-builds/strip downs etc. Did you get any warranty on your re-build?

Thanks Bruce, chased up Dronsfield and found a 250 engine for £300 delivered to elite;- result and with only 87,000 on it.
Elite are going to play fair wrt the labour as well as we agreed that rather that waste their labour stripping down the old engine to find out whats wrong they will reduce their labour cost on the engine swop.
