I've changed all the clear pipes, filter, pre filter. I've noticed air in the line from the fuel heater. Does this mean air could be coming in somewhere in the fuel tank?

Thanks

Did you do the 18 mm O ring behind the fuel shut off valve as well?

At the saddle tanks, I'd be looking at the two short rubber pipes that connect the senders to the steel fuel pipes.

I haven't done the shut off valve seal. I've only changed the clear pipes, filter and pre filter. The air is in the pipe coming from the fuel heater which leads me to believe it under the car or the fuel tank.

Your second suggestion sounds promising, I'll check that out. Although, I have had a look at all the lines coming from the tank under the car, all the way to the engine bay and I didn't find any evidence of a leak.
Could there still be an air leak even if no fuel leaks out?

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I need to find a Mercedes specialist somewhere close by. Someone who knows what they are doing. I live in Medway, Kent. Does anyone know of someone close by?

Buy the 1 quid-ish S.O.V. O ring from the dealer, drive up to near the M11 and I'll do it F.O.C. on Sunday, as it takes all of 10 mins.
