the cruise control has gone a bit erratic on my car. Up about 60mph it works fine but above that it seems to hold the speed for a minute or two then disengage itself.

Does anyone know what might be wrong? I've had new tyres put on the car all round yesterday, would removing a wheel have knocked a sensor loose?

I haven't used the cruise control for about a week so not sure if the fault has happened pre or post tyre change.

If the new rubbers is staggered front and back too much then that would do it.

well I've moved from 225/45 x 17 front to 225/40 x 18 and 245/40 x 17 to 255/35 x 18. not a huge amount of difference.

ive got 18`s on a staggered setup and lowered and my cruise works fine!

Why? I don't see how that could affect it at all! Explain please :)

17" 225 45 has a rolling rad of 78.45
18" 225 40 has a rolling rad of 78.81
which is a difference of 1.5%

17" 245 40 = 77.65
18" 255 35 = 1997.11mm = 78.63
= difference of 1.26%

but the difference from front to rear isnt much... if you just did front or just rear, then i would expect a problem, but with a total difference of 0.25% between front to rear shouldnt be a problem...

dirt in an abs sensor?

I chose those tire sizes because of the minimal diameter difference to the previous 17" set and so they didn't rub :p Thing is, the previous tyres on the 18" rims were even wider but the cruise control still worked perfectly..at least it did the last time I used it.

does anyone have a pic or diagram of which is the ABS sensor and it's location?
