Mine has started making a funny noise when opening and closing - any common problems with them?

Does it make really loud creak when opening/closing?
If so, the hinge will need re-greasing, you can do mine while your at it!

The check strap stops the door opening too far.

It should,nt be to hard to remove/replace, I think you,ll have to remove the door panel to access the bolts though.

If you replace it I would think you,ll need to get it painted but you might get away with giving it a good soaking in diesel an regreasing.

Finally had time to check this out. The screws holding the check strap to the door were loose - easy 1 minute job. Checked the other 3 doors and they weren't tight either. I would advise anyone to quickly check theirs with a 10mm socket.

Apologies for bumping a very old thread, but my problem is relevant.
My door catch appears to have come apart inside the door, the two bolts on the door are not attached to the stay any more.
Is it more likely that they have just worked themselves loose and come away, or do you think the stay has broken? It all looks in tact, apart from the fact it's not attached to the door any more...
