W202 C55 Cat D £4,500

That looks like a lovely car, beautiful condition, bet it goes well!

Great value and an honest sounding advert - well worth a look IMHO

Could be a great buy

That does look nice, but I think I would like to be assured on how much damage was done to make it CAT D at only three years old, thats a lot of damage on a three year old £50k car to write it off.

Has to be one from here surely , a member ?

MB tech who did the conversion ? Olly ?

As andy says. , why would 'light panel damage' write off a 3 year old , £50k car ?

Does look nice though

I'm sure I remember seeing this car for sale earlier this year, there was a thread on here about it. Mileage/engine/cat-D stick in my mind.

There's been a fair few 43/55 conversions now, I'm sure Olly has done at least 4 (?) and then there's Robin's one and this - 6 we know about.

The Cat-D is a shame, and I agree about the amount of damage to write off a 3 year old car of fair value, but it's not always that simple.

Realistically, could have been stolen/recovered, shortage of parts, flood damage etc - if it was extensively structurally damaged you'd like to think it would have been given a C marker?

Still - I guess at this age/value it's less relavant - probably more important is how it stands today. Lets face it, many C43s will have been crashed/repaired over the years, and most will be quite rusty by now. It's only metal and plastic at the end of the day!

It's appreciated in value nicely :)

Just checking wasn't that the e55 the spray painter was selling but could not be bothered to fix the rust

I think that car was an estate,I might be wrong though

what's a Cat D?
Please explain to an ignorant hillbilly redneck?

It's a marker given to a car in the UK that has been 'written off' by an insurance company.

Ie - usually a car that has been damaged, but an insurance company chooses not to repair.

thanks for clearing.
this marker given to a vehicle is like a salvage title in the US?
a car given this marker has less value than a similar non marked car?

don't think we have such red flag markers on cars in Sweden, never heard of it.

I know sometimes an insurance company decides not to fix a car depending of cost and value of a certain vehicle, they payout to owner and then sell the car to a bodyshop or owner can buy his car back for cheap price and fix her up.
