w202 Cruise Control Retro Fit?

you'll need the loom for a pre facelift as well as the stalk. The loom connects to the stalk plug which will be held in by a bracket directly under the steering. Im actually in the process of this mod but time is a limiting factor.

Hi,
To fit CC to a prefacelift w202, you will need the CC ECU, stalk, loom and you will need to fit some sort of solenoid on the throttle which might mean you have to replace the throttle linkage set up completly, also if the car is a manual i think a switch will have to be to the clutch pedal.
FYI I believe plug and play CC is only possible on face lift W202 vehicles fitted with ESP or possibly some sort of traction control.
Pre facelift vehicles have to have a complete fit as described above.
I believe the stalk is different between a facelift and prefacelift too

ps NW_merc your car sounds great you should post some pics have you OCKlass's c230 with wald kit, it makes the 202 quite posibly one of the best looking cars ever.

Thanks, but it's not finished by any means, the WALD kit is still waiting to be fitted. Money and time being the limiting factors. I'd also like to do another mod to make it faster but again am limited by finance

I'll post some pics as soon as I'm at the stage where I'm happy with my car.

i have seen a few 202 180 turbo kits knocking about, gives the car about 160bhp at the wheel so its quite fast. youd have to get the engine completely reconditioned though. anything else you do to a 180 doesent really make any difference,

a few folks have had the capacity changed to 2.2L but have no idea why as 220 petrol engines are everywhere lol

Can I resurrect this thread and ask for a bit of advice about retro-fitting CC to my 208 CLK. I've been through all the pages, there's quite a few contradictory ideas as whether this mod can be done and only one who confirms having it done to his manual 202.

My car is 1998 230k Elegance 5 speed manual with ASR; is it simply a case of fitting the CC stalk and taking it off to a STAR machine and having the ECU re-programmed or are there other parts that need to be added/changed?

Also when removing the steering column shroud, are there pre-formed cutouts in the shroud and does anybody happen to know the size of the torx screws that secure the airbag housing to the steering wheel/

Thanks in anticipation.

Yep, should be plug and play virtually. We did it on my bros clk200 on a 99, his was auto though.
Think the airbag torn is a t27

new user here

I bought a A170 cdi / 1999 and I hope to find a technical community here. I'hope to find about retro-fitting and how to repair my new old car as I like to learn more about. Reading the old posts I was interested to become a part of this community, then now I want to say "hello everybody"!

Does anyone know where to turn on the cruise control in the Stars, I have heard that it is under the ECU and also in the Dash.
I have a 1999 C220 CDI manual with ESP. and we have managed to code it into the dash but we cant seem to find it under the ECU.
Thanks!

I have the same problem, same car C220 CDI 1999. with ESP (installed CC stalk), tried to activate it in a few places (also in Official Mercedes Benz service), and no succes anywhere...No one knew what to do. Anyone solved the problem with succes?

Might be an Idea to start a new thread with your enquiry ? :thumb:
