My pre facelift W202 has a dodgy fan speed switch.

If I twist it from zero to '1' or to '3' or any number etc it does the same fan speed which seems to be affected by bumps in the road.

An entire used replacement heating section is fairly cheap and easy to come by but was just wondering if this is a common thing with a simple not so obvious fix before pulling the dash apart?

Many thanks.

Thank you for this.

Where is that part situated? Behind the dash near the switches themselves? I'm gonna try and pull the switch unit out tomorrow and will look online for tutorials but where would the water come from? The heater matrix itself or just where water has collected?

Also, without sounding daft, how do I check the windscreen drains? Is it just a visual underneath it?

Appreciate your help.
