Hey guys, just had a problem on my W202 C220 CDI (W reg) my dome lights have stopped working, everything else seems to be fine, but when i press the key fob to activate alarm it seems to take a little longer, 2 or 3 clicks to activate the indicator lights to go off, hope this is not a more serious issue, please advise, all window electrics and mirror electrics seem to be working fine.

Can someone please shed some light on this, getting really annoyed with my keyfob now, lol..

Checked everything i possible can, all seems fine, tried both my keyfobs, both have enough, something really strange.

have a look at the door contact switches first. Otherwise it will need plugging into a Star.

Just checked these on top, all seem to be pushing in fine, pushing out fine, i think i'm going to have to get the car plugged in, never had my car plugged in before, should i just go to the dearlership and get them to check or whats the best way, thanks.
I'll pull switches out and check contacts, might be that theres been a water leak, but i doubt that very much.

Go to a specialist with a Star. No need for a dealer.

If you're anywhere near Preston then I recommend calling in at 124 Works. Not only is there a STAR diagnostic setup there but my 1998 W202 is currently outside and you could try swapping the dome lights to see if that fixes it! :)

Hi, thanks for that, not free at the moment but i'm only in blackburn, not far then, so i could definitely pop in at 124 and get the star on it, cheers. Would you know how much it roughly is to get it plugged in checked out?

Not sure, but here is a link to their website for more details: Welcome to 124 works

put the key fob to your head ( it acts as an ariel amplifier somehow ) and push the button if it works first time then the batteries are on the way out ...in teh key fob..there will be nenough power to light the little LED but not enough signal strength for the transponder to send and register and reply ...

Hi, thanx for advice, that sounds really funny (put it to your head)... i'll try that, fiddling around with fuses has got the rear interior light to work as fuse was blown on that, but everything else is perfect, i'm doubting the whole unit now, do these front dome light units go very often, could it be this, as i have seen a few knocking about on ebay.

I guess it would be a door switch like Olly suggested.
The door might not push it far enough. Try to put a cardboard or spacer where the switch rest at the door, and see if it work when you close the door.
Also its worth pulling the switches and inspect them, then might push in and out properly but the inside might be damage.

Cheers guys, the door switches work fine, when you open any of the doors the rear dome light activates perfectly as it should but not the front, i've got a feeling its the front unit, i've check connections on that and they seem okay, gonna have to do a swap dome test with someone, change dome units and check if it works after that, thanks again for all the help guys.
