Evening all,

I have srtipped my 97 w202 for painting and the only thing i cant get off are the front exterior door handles.

I have used the search facility and read the how too's but no joy

i took it even further buy sawing the passenger side unit off but i still cant get the short peice removed.

I have lossened the 4mm allen bolt first but this does not seemed to have helped, so before taking brutish thuggery to the drivers side i stripped the interior panel off, to see if i could make it easier but still no joy.

Do any of you fellas have any further tricks as this is holding my progress of the respray

Many thanks

Bryn

Undo the hex bolt, and the jiggle the lock piece about and it will come out, once it's out you can slide the door handle back to get it off.

Same as above the little bit of the handle can be a pain, if you've removed the hex bolt it should come off as nothing else is holding the handle

Thanks fellas, but the bolt onlt turns about 180 degrees then stops
The backs came off no bother but the frontsare driving me mad

You have to believe, seeing is believing.

Brynton,

I had been wondering how to remove the handle so glad you asked!
Roughly what is your respray going to cost?

Cheers
Shane
