W202 Doors

Please can anybody tell me if there is any difference between pre-facelift W202 saloon doors and those fitted to post facelift cars.

Thanks,
Andy C.

Slight change of topic here, but are the wings different too?

I think my facelift has a different (or bent) wing on the RHS which is rusting more than the others (prob re-sprayed) but more importantly appears to be 4/5mm narrower which may be the thing giving me problems fitting 18" wheels (turning into a bit of a saga this......)

Cheers, Chris

Doors there is no difference in any C class Saloon door, just what is fitted inside it.
Wings, I believe there may of been a difference between really early ones as I don,t believe the arches were rolled, but there is still only 1 pt. no. per side for the wings. Though I think you can get a wing without the side repeater cut out, but I think this is for the US market, as its not listed in the current EPC.

You can buy a 1995 w202 (NL) wing with no repeater cutout - that's what I have fitted to mine.

Need to get myself a set of W210 mirrors first!

I will need to get on it soon though as my wings didnt like the winter road salt one little bit!

Thanks for the replies.
So, if the only difference betweeen the doors is what is fitted internally, is it possible to easily transfer the parts ( airbag, door control module, etc) between pre and post facelift doors?

Thanks,
Andy C.

The early doors may not have the recess for the airbag and module.

Well in answer to my question: No they are different.
You could put a facelift door on a pre-facelift car but not (easily) the otherway round.
The door control module will fit, but it's the airbag and inner door handle locating screws ( the ones on the door card) that cause the problem. You could cut a hole in the inner door for the airbag module, but the points at which it is rivetted won't sit flat, same with the door handle securing screws.Additionally, the window winder motors are completely different requiring those to be changed as well.
The back doors are more straight-forward with just the window winder mechanism requiring changing.

Hope this may be of use to someone else.

Andy
