I've noticed on W203 cars that have mats installed, the drivers mat has a little flap that comes up for covering the drivers left foot rest. Does the W202 mats from MB have this too or would the W203 one's fit?

I bought a set of cheap pattern mats for mine but it doesn't have that flap for the footrest.

I've got the flap on mine, which is a 202. I cannot be sure the mats are 202 mats as they were there when I got the car. If it helps any, they are ribbed with a little metal plate that says MB on it.

I've been looking out for 202 mats on eBay but the same old 203 mats are appearing all the time for cheap. I have compared the two from images and there doesn't seem to be much difference at all. I might try some 203 mats in my 202. They are cheap enough that if it doesn't fit I won't be fussed. Apparently original parts with MB plate as well.

There are several different types of mat available for each model.

Rubber: Those are the black rubbery ones you're meant to use in winter, they're the £40 ones.
Ribbed: Factory installed hard wearing mats that have ridges running down them to catch grit etc. I had these in my last car, they're the ones in the £50 region.
Velour: Much nicer to look at and much nicer texture than the above ribbed mats, these are the ones you get for £70ish.

I bought AMG mats which are (AFAIK) only available in anthracite, they were the same price as the aforementioned velour mats (because they're also velour) and they have AMG stitched in the lower, outer corner.

Ok, I do buy one or two items of junk, the world-famous tunnel mat! ;)

oh baby!!! you are a bad bad man....getting me to spend more money.

hmm...you're in Manchester too, better lock ya doors in case I can't be bothered going to the dealers :p

BTW were they special order or do they usually have them in stock? Pity they don't do them in light grey, which is what my carpets are.

Are the standard MB mats for the W202 the same with the flap at the top left or just the AMG ones?

Pretty much all mats have to be ordered due the wide range of colours and styles. I can't remember how long I waited for those mats, prolly a week.

The AMG mats are standard black velour mats with AMG embroidered on them rather than a mercedes script. All of the ribbed/velour mats have the "flap" for the footrest. BTW don't bother with the tunnel mat unless you're desperate for one (kids or other filthy passengers in the rear) because it's £20 for something that you'd probably get for free as a "sample" from a carpet shop.

result! Just popped into MB Stockport and they had a full set of AMG mats in stock, no neeed to wait! Bought and paid for, just need to put them in the car now. :bannana:

Anyone want to buy a set of lightly used black velour mats? lol

How much they set you back?

I would use them as overmats for your overmats during the winter to keep all the mud and dirt from the bad weather off the good ones :)

I always put a set of rubber mats over the posh mats anyhow or else my right heel would wear them out in 6 months, rubber mats are much cheaper to replace....must the be way I sit!
