Does anybody know how to change kompressor oil on w202 c230k 111 engine and were i can get the oil from. Main dealer have not got a clue what they are talking about!!!!:bannana:

I think they are "sealed for life". You have to remove supercharger to upend to empty.

Can you explain why you want to replace the oil in the supercharger? The unit is self contained and sealed for life from what I have been told.

They said that about auto boxes too!

However, there were auto box failures that backed up the need to replace the oil, I have not heard of any un-isolated kompressor failures.

I am intrigued however.

On marine diesel engines fitted with electromagnetic clutch type superchargers the oil is changed every 5 years regardless of hours run as kompressor oil is hydroscopic and there is an oil change interval. This will help the bearings last longer as these units cost about 2000 new. have contacted eaton for further advice. will let you know how i get on

I bought a 1999 car about a year back and have been working my way through it.
My Kompressor unit will come out at some point as part of my rip through the car and clean/service what ever I can as time goes by.
I don't mind doing all this as my long term plan is long term ownership.

I'd be interested to see what the outcome of your research is.

Hi,

For what ever the reason, the oil on the Eaton supercharger (kompressor) can be changed and is not a sealed unit and can be done with the supercharger still in place but you have to suck the oil out. I found this kit in the USA, I think they sell their oil for about £3 a bottle.

Problem is the P+P soon bumps the cost up.

Found this also http://www.clubgp.com/cgi-asp/mods.asp?modid=13

I also came accross the website "Mini Mania", best option so far for the UK but £15 a bottle:eek: WoW!!

If you read this thread that I started http://mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=50364 it will point out to you where you can access the oil (that's if your and my kompressors are the same). I too want to get some of this oil as for now I have used Automatic Transmision fluid just to get me by.

But do we think it's necessary to do so? mine's covered 137,000 now and if its a reasonable servicing requirement then i'll get it done!

Must admit i'd never thought about it before...

Your right, my car has done 230,000 miles, I only changed the oil in mine because I had to dismantle and make repairs to the aluminium shaft on the front of the kompressor, the gears are fine.

It wasn't so long ago that MB said the ATF didn't need doing and then backtracked. Because MB do not list the oil change as a service item does not mean, to me anyway, that it wouldn't benefit from new oil by way of preventative maintenance.

Assuming that you have the correct oil/tools/inclination to do the job, changing oil at any stage can only be a good thing in the longer term.
For those that do not believe they will keep the car for an extended period then maybe not.
Equally there is no known failure rate due to oil breaking down from what I have read.

I guess it is down to individual owners and how far they want to delve into maintaining their pride an joy.
Me? I am definitely in the long term owners group and I will do it at some point anyway when I get around to that section of the engine. BTW My car has covered around 90k miles.

I'll most likely tackle the supercharger oil when I replace the exhaust manifold for a stainless steel version.
