W202 Facelift vs pre-facelift tailgate fixtures

Does a W202 facelift require different no. plate lights and plinth to a pre-facelift?

Having a feel around it appears there are a different no. of bolt holes.

Anyone shed any light?

As far as I know, the bootlid handle & lights are different. You cant fit a pre-faclift handle to a facelift model.

You may also run into trouble fitting your locking mech as Im led to belive they are different - It maybe a case of filing down some parts.

I paid a tenner for the face lift one, which is maybe why it's not in the best of nick.

I'm toying with just getting it repaired and doing some custom mods, all will be revealed in a month or so

The USA bootlids have remote-release parts in them as probably required by law, this wasn't introduced to Euro models until 1997/facelift.
