Hi all only joined the other day..

I have a leak in passenger side on my w202 saloon! A year ago I looked on you tube when I had this issue, about leaves blocking up the water channel then over flowing into the heater motor! I looked and it was clogged up! I've emptied it but everytime it rains the carpet gets wet! But it's clear not blocked up! Door rubbers look good... anything else it could be chaps?

Any help would be appreciated.. cheers mick.

Have a search on here, there are countless threads on this (including one of mine from 10 years ago).

Common issue on the W202.

Cheers for reply mate! Yeah I typed in w202 leaking, but the replies seem to be the hole blocked inside the engine bay passenger side/heater, I've checked this and it's all clear.

My indy garage used silicon sealant on mine to stop it leaking.

There is a heavy cable that enters the car on the passenger foot well floor as marked in Red in the linked picture below.

This can let water in when corrosion is present.

Another place can be blocked door drain holes on the bottom of the door, there are two drain holes, one each end of the door.

Thanks Dec

I'll give it a look tomorrow! The interior looks pretty shabby now! So I wanna replace it! But I would rather sort this leak issue first..

So those 18in staggered amg wheels fit ok no rubbing?

Mine had W210 tyres fitted and occasionally rubbed, get the correct tyres and they are fine.

Others will be able to tell you what tyres you need :)

Probably daft question, but have you checked the drain on the
drivers side, it can hold just as much water as the other side and
can wash over to the passenger side when you move the car.

I had the same problem and found the foam on the bottom of
the carpets can hold about 10 times its weight in water and
don't dry out easily,
You might be surprised how much water there is under the carpets.

Hope it helps

What really!!
I only checked the passenger side, I will have a gander tomorrow! Cheers for that!
Yeah I can imagine that carpet retaining a lot of water! Bloody stinks in there at the moment!

The carpet in the front is in two parts, so you can take just
the passenger side out on its own.

If you pull the plastic sill off ( its just clipped on ), you can
get the carpet out, it is only tucked under the centre console.

Once the carpet is out you will be able to see how much water
you've got, the sound proofing in the front of the footwell wil
also hold a lot of water. I left the carpet out for a couple of days
as it took this long for the sound proofing to dry out.

If its really bad the water can get through to the rear, so check
there too !

Good Luck !

It is! Not as bad! But the passenger side rear footwear is damp! So I think it'll have to come out to dry properly like you said!
Thanks for the help.

C clk and slk are the same setup, I had the same problem on a slk, ended up being the rubber seal that sits against the windscreen (pushes into the plastic plenum cover) £8 from the main desler, it goes hard over time and pulls away from the screen.

I had this issue on my W202(C280 Sport) many many years ago. I could not figure out why there was water in the passenger footwell. I kept it parked in my garage and still there was water. The heater core was leaking antifreeze.

Hi c280 sport

I had a subaru with the same issue matrix gone , but my water in the header tank isn't going down in the merc! To be honest I haven't checked the drain on other side (drivers side) yet as capt chaos pointed out.
But thanks for your replies guys.
