W202 OM605 glow plug problem

Hi all
I'm having some problems with my glow plugs,
the GP light comes on as usual but when cold it's hard to start and can take up to 6 attempts to get it started,
once started the GP light on the dash stays on for about 60 seconds,
I know it wont start well without the GP's but is the light staying on telling me something other than the plugs themself need replacing ?

I can only talk a good breakdown. No good at the fixes. However when the GP light used to stay on after start up on my diesel it went out immediately on start up once the GPs had been changed. Started on first pull too (once the light had go out on its normal cycle)

Was that on a 605 / 606 engine ?
