Hi all,
New to the forum, but wanted to get opinions from your experience.
I’m experiencing a knocking/juddering, coming from the rear of the car, seemingly on one side. It’s only present when accelerating, but there at any acceleration pace or speed. It stops as soon as you quickly lift off the throttle. It can then re-appear whilst approaching the desired speed, but 2-3 lifts off the throttle settle it down and it isn’t there until you accelerate again.
I can drive at 70mph on the motorway for an hour without feeling it all and it’s seemingly worse at the start of the journey too.
It’s not getting worse quickly, but it is something I’d like to fix.
I’ve taken it to a local garage (not an MB specialist) and they had no idea what it was after replicating on a test drive.
Has anyone experienced anything similar and are there areas I should troubleshoot first, eg. Check level & replace diff oil or is it more likely to be drive/prop shaft related?
I don’t have huge amounts of experience, so keep it simple and go easy on me - I’d like to keep the W202 on the road if I can after 170k miles.
I’m aware that there has historically been a leak on the diff and so this could well be linked - sharing a few pictures in case they help.
Thanks in advance
