W202 - Reverse lights not working

My reverse lights don't seem to be coming on when reverse is selected. Is this a relay fault? If so where do I look to remedy it?

Where is that found? The fault seems to be intermittent if I engage and disengage reverse the problem goes away. But then when the car is turned off and on the lights don't come on when reverse is selected.

Sounds like a dodgy connection or a poor earth?

If I go to select R, then if the gear sits in between the lights come on but it doesn't reverse. If it goes into R, the lights go off. Where is a good place to look for the problem?

Hi,
I would look at the gear selector unit as it sounds like this is causing the fault from your description, probably just needs to be cleaned, try some using some switch cleaner as you move it through the gears.
