Alright guys,

I've a very early (1993) w202 and I'm finding the seats a bit flat and uncomfortable. It's a low milage car (55k) so I am not sure if it's a wear issue or if they are just flat and uncomfortable by design. I've had a 1993 190e and it seemed a bit more comfortable from what I remember tho I was 10 year junior and it could just be the age setting in.. any ideas if that's just how the seats are and if so can anyone think of any viable way of making them more comfortable? Will new foam help or do different seats fit, maybe later models seats are better etc.?

Mike.

I would say a 190 seat is more comfortable that a 202 but wouldn’t call a 202 seat uncomfortable, I would guess a new seat pad would help.

They should be supportive and comfortable. The 202 is a nicely engineered motor.
It sounds like the metal spring base may have snapped. Odd, as that's usually mileage / use related.

Remove the seat and check the metal spring base.
Google 'mercedes pool noodle' for a quick and easy bodge if it's not a cherished 202 restoration.

What colour and material is yours? (I have some spare seats in very good nick)

After about a 90min drive my ass starts going numb so maybe the base is gone. I wasnt thinking that's the case since the miles are so low but who knows, maybe the first owner was massive in stature. Mine are black cloth with the chevron like off black pattern. Best colour in my humble opinion :)
