Hi all, first time post, hoping for some clues as to why I have speedo failure, abs, handbrake, bas/asr warning lights on constantly? On the advice of someone else I have replaced the brakelight switch and checked all 4 wheel sensors - they produce ac voltage when the respective wheel is jacked up and spun; ABS control unit has been suggested - anyone else had this problem? I understand abs / asr lights are a common problem but not speedo failure? Thanks in advance.

You might want to check that the plugs are correctly seated in the back of the instrument cluster.

thanks for that; I'll be having a play later, will post result.....

Take pics, we don't have a cluster removal HOWTO yet! ;)

EDIT: we might have a removal HOWTO but not one without hooks

Ive got 3 pics of how to get the cluster out on a non adjustable steering coloum but none to show how you take the cover off from under the dash or pushing the cluster from behind.

Your speedometer gets it's speed signal from the ABS wheel sensors, the ABS control unit takes the average from the four sensors and this is fed to the speedometer. Check the wiring connections to all the wheel sensors and the ABS/ASR control unit, also check along all the relevant wires to make sure there is no damage.

If this may help you, I've already posted times ago under "favorites":

look under "Tipps and Tricks" there is photos how to dismount the clouster without take away the lower panel.

Hop this help you

Marco

Thanks for those tips; I removed lower panel(6 screws) and reaching up pushed the pod out one side at a time (as per Haynes manual!). All connections ok. Will recheck all wiring from sensors back to ABS unit and post results.....:
