Hi Guys,

Apart from the interior differences, what other differences does the W202 sport have from it's classic and elegance counterparts?

I'm assuming here that engine wise hasn't been touched.

Obviously I can see that the stock suspension is lower, but are the brakes any bigger? They seem to do a very good job at stopping the motor...

Any other changes done to this model?

The suspension is stiffer and lower on sport and the trim tends to be carbon whereas on classic models it is usually the finest MB plastic black, and elegance is burl or zebrano wood depending on whether its pre or post facelift.

On elegance models, I'm not sure but leather may have come as standard?

Leather was an option on the elegance throughout W202 production. My 99 elegance has black fabric intererior.

leather was only standard to C43 AMG models in the W202 range, even the C36 AMG had leather as a option in the early models !

Don't forget the Esprit version - lowered suspension too , "youthful" interior (funky colours) green / blue / or red mottled with black...otherwise as per classic...(i think)

I know this is slightly off topic but I have seen a few W202 with 'Classic Selection' written on the side where it usually says the trim level does anyone know what these are im presuming there limited edition classics ?

My sport compared to my elegance has lowered and slightly stiffer suspension, carbon fibre door pillars, interior trimmings, etc, I've got grey leather in mine but believe the normal sport had black with black and white check cloth interior? Oh, and the badges and white indicators/repeaters.

Ivory dials for heater and speedo.... sport written on gear stick... carbon fibre door pillaers and dash panel... seat shape different more padding on sides compared to classic for better supprt...

I believe the 'Classic Selection' was introduced near the end of the W202s life. It included free extras such as alloy wheels.

Esprits had the large steering wheels right up until the end, the Sport has the smaller version.

Sport models also have body coloured side strips, Classic/Esprit have ether black plastic, or 2 tone, Elegance have crome strips.

is sport supsension same as amg c43??

thansk

I'd say no:)

As far as esprit, they come lowered respect classic and elegance, but not with sport dumper, as the sport.

Sport should have, if I'm not wrong, rear foldable armrest, like elegance. Classic and Esprit come without it.

Further, front armrest is not included as factory configuration for sport models, it was an option:)

Another thing, Sports dont have pockets on the rear of the front seats, Elegance(s) do.

Instead they get rock hard plastic backs which hurt peoples knees so I hear.

glass tint is the same or, as actully, classic/elegance is green and avantgarde(i.e. sport) is blu?

Not on W202s, on W210s, W203s, W211s yes.

W202s are all the same - that said mine does appear to be slightly darker than my old one.
