When i start my w202 from cold it starts first time but when i engage drive it sometimes stalls, reversing is even worse, its then as if im driving with the handbrake on for miles until it warms up. Today it was so bad that i drove about 4 miles and it was as if i was driving with kangaroo petrol!! It was struggling not to cut out when sitting at idle too at lights and roundabouts even well after it was at the correct temperature.
Any ideas what could be causing this?
Currently on long term sick so cant afford a service although its due one in 3months!

Sounds just like an air mass sensor fault. You need it plugged in really or test the voltage off the sensor.

Is that like a MAF? I had to change one on a previous car.

I cleaned the maf and the air filter the other day - what a difference!!!

I dont think my car has one? it is an M reg w202 c180 sport.
I thought it should be between the air filter and the throttle body but there is only a two wire sensor?(what is this?)

You don’t have a MAF, it would be located in the air pipe, adjacent to the air filter box if you did.
The sensor is, I think, for sensing the air temperature. You should check the air filter and try running the car with the sensor removed.
