Hi all, I have been looking through this forum for a while, though this is my first post.

I have recently bought a 98R C250 TD estate (I take it this is a W202?), with the intention of converting it to run on veg oil. However, I am having some difficulty finding a permanent +12V connection under the bonnet ... any ideas would be greatfully received.

The battery would prove to have a permanent 12V+ connection - may I suggest that you instal suitable fusing though .

the battery isnt in the engine bay, but there should be a small black box with a flip up cover which will be your positive supply.

On my P reg W202 it is on the passenger side wheelarch in the engine bay. Like jaymanek states, it's under a flip up cover about 2"x1".

It is good to know this location in case you ever need to jump start your car and get in a situation where you can't access the battery itself due to no power/jammed locks. I guess it isn't so much of an issue for a wagon though since you don't have to deal with an inaccessible trunk :)

so which is the positive and which is the negative?
i guess the positive is the one with two wires?

so how do you jump start it with leads if you cannot access the battery in the boot?

By connecting the positive lead to the positive point under the cover in the engine bay and connecting the negative to the engine block, or an accessable earth point on the engine.

.........a pain in the **** and major oversight to Mercedes' usual over-engineered approach if you ask me :)
