Thanks for the update...what a great thread!

Seems now you can always pursue a new career with car restoration...:D

How is your father by the way?

He's fine thanks. Can read a newspaper and watches the news at a normal distance so a big improvement :)

I've just read every post in this thread and it has made my day! You deserve massive congratulations for what you have achieved with a few tools and a lot of perseverance.

I'm sure you Dad is delighted that it's back on the road and I really hope he's doing well.

202's are great cars. Massively underrated in my opinion. I have two of them and enjoy keeping them in good nick ! My 1996 C200 has just 69k miles and is more or less mint - gets comments wherever I go.

I agree. Built well and cheap to put right.
A proper Merc in my eyes.

I would suggest that as you seem to be doing this purely as a favour to your dear old Dad, then get the car roadworthy and then see if there is any member of the family that wants it and ask them for what you have paid out. That would cheer your Dad up and keep the car 'in the family'.

I wish I had read all 5 pages before posting!!! I read the first page and never realised there were 5
