Good evening and a very Happy Easter to all and each.
My beloved W203 C180 has been picked on by the MOT gods this year, Pads and discs on the back(plus caliper as it turned out), shocks and springs on the back plus droplinks on the back, droplinks and suspension arm lower on front. Also the drivers side mirror indicators have failed as only 1 bulb was working. I also seem to have a power drain as battery running flat in 2 days battery and alternator both test fine, anyway that not an MOT problem.
Had the work done but I removed the mirror cover myself as youtube videos showed it to be a simple job. I have replaced the whole indicator bit as original was cracked, it fit in fine and its flush. My problem is I cannot get the cover to click back into place. the metal clip seems ok and not damaged, but the plug for the indicator seems to be a little loose its as if it wont fit in the new housing when i'm trying to get the cover on.
My first thought was the new indicator piece was not an exact match as its aftermarket, but after comparing new to old its a match. Next I carefully pulled the plug loose to check it would plug in and it does as the indicators work. I have inspected the cover for any damage and can't find any. Has anyone any experience of this kind of issue?? Is it something obvious i'm overlooking. The mirror glass is fine, it folds and moves fine, its just the last box I need to tick before taking it back for re-test which iin order to get free re-rest(and avoid a complete full new test) I have to do by tuesday as thats day 10 from the fail. Can anyone tell me if it is something a merc specialist(We have one close in huddersfield) can fix or should I be trying to get a new complete mirror unit?
Can anyone with any knowhow on these mirror covers offer any advice please

You could try warming it on top of a radiator, might just give a bit more flexibility.

I had a very similar experience 18 months ago with our 2005 W203 C200 Sports Coupe.
My partner smashed the N/S repeater blinker light.
MB said they couldn't supply the replacement part ... Only a replacement mirror
I found an after-market part on ebay at reasonable price.
It looked OK
BUT
It would only fit in the mirror cover after a bit of filing.
Then I had the same problem as the OP - I could not get the electrical connector to engage.
The supplier refunded my money.
I got a second hand part from Prestige of Oldham.
Very helpful people / Reasonable price.
The part fitted with no issues.
The electrical connector mated with no problem.
Result !

I took it to a local indy today and still couldn't get it fully on so I reckon I had the same problem, the aftermarket strip just isn't quite right, we ended up snipping of the clip on the plug that sits the plug in place so we could plug in and get the cover on far enough to tape it on so it would pass the MOT. I then dropped lucky and found someone selling a cover including indicator on Ebay for £15 so should arrive by friday

Good luck with the new component.
Hope it fits and functions OK.
The loose mounting on the electrical connector is designed to allow enough "wiggle" for it to self-align with the connector guide on the mirror cover.
I always hold my breath as I fit it.
But - It does seem to work.
