W203 270 CDI avanguard

LOL!! didnt think that i will find anybody here that understands Bahasa.
Also kust found out that brabus sells kits to mod the diesel engine!! Not vey impressive performace though. I guess cos of the emmision std?

bukan - akibat bahan bakar mungkin - kekuatan mesin itu biasanya lebih dari 170 HP - cukup di Indo. Padahal bapak mau memperbesarkan kekuatan , ojolali tentang kealaman bahan bakar .

LOL!! Yea i know Fred. But im surprised that Brabus or AMG didnt fully mod the Diesel engine to te fullest potential. just waiting for some freko in these company to do it,

To be honest with you Stasis - it really should go quite well - I have a 220 CDI which really flies along - OK for you there is no issue with insurance ( 'cos you don't need any) , but as above , fuel quality is an issue , and there aren't many places where you will really notice the extra few horsepower - I would keep my money in my pocket !

Hugh - it was a good try ! actually the guys who learn Indo at the School of African and Asian studies speak like that -

Thanks Fred. Yea Fuel is not a problem for me. I can put in either Shell or the pertamina DEX. But yea i just loved the torque of the car. I dont think they will bring in another diesel variant of the Mercs in anymore. So i guess this is the only Mercs diesel variant we can get hold of. Unless parrell imports.
You thin its a good price? How much will this car worth in UK? Dont forget about the "pajak" though.

Well "lain ladang ,lain belalang " , but for what you are paying , you could buy a nice 270CDI CLK with all the bit and bobs on , probably on a late 2004 registration for a bit less in the UK .

But you will always pay a premium for any used car in Indo , unless you want a Tommy Soehart special ! As you know Pajak is the killer . I paid more for a 1993 Taft Diesel than it was new ! I actually wanted to bring mobil bekas to Indo if anyone was interested .....

HAHA Tommy 's special!! yea probably the car has no BKPP. Well yea cos of the stupid Rp devalued in 1997.
Anyway found out the prices for some parts :
1. fuel filter Rp 600,000 = GBP $50 around
2. Plastic bits under the trans Rp 2,400,99 = GBP$320

how much does these parts costs in the UK.
Fred you working as a consultant for Philip Morris?

finlly got the car today. Drives very good. got all the part numbers i need and will order the items on Monday. Will update you guys as soon i got everything fix.
Found another new problem. Theres an electrical leak in the drivesd seatt controls which is draining the battery. Will try to isolate it.

BPKB last time I looked , unless BKPP is something else -

Don't know what they are precisely

Take it to Ketok Magic !
Yes !

HAHA!! i dont go to "ketok Magic".
Anyway, i got partial of the fuel leak fixed. Its actually leaking from one the the delivery line. Went out and bought a SS clamp to reclamp it back and it works. Theres another small leak on the rail itself where the sensors attached at the end near the firewall. Also got an electrical leak on the drivers seat. Will fix all this on monday hopefully.

Another question. What are the time inervals recommended for the diesel engine for a tune up? 30k km? And is it suppose to blow black smoke when you step on it? Mine does.

I will be changing the fuel, oil and Air filter next week . I will be using Mobil SuperS for the engine oil and will do the oil change every 7.5k km instead of 15k km.

Did al the the engine mounts and transmission mount yesterday. The original mounts from MB are made by BOGE. All thetie rds, both arms and it droves like new.

Correct me if im wroong, shouldnt the common rail diesel engine be blowing black smoke when you step on it? mine does blow smoke when ou step on it. Does it need a tune? Power seems fine and engine is running smooth. Im using Shell.

Ohh another thing how much oil do i need for the oil change? Including the Oil filter and without changing the oil filter.

Cheers guys,

Yudy

Yo Mas Yudy -kebanyakan asap selama "booting it " - have you already changed the air filter ? remember that JKT isn't the cleanest place for dust etc - too many gunung api !! - then of course the quality of your fuel - hi-sulphur . Get the oil change done , this can make a real difference to the way that the turbo comes on boost .

Eh Mas - boleh pinjam merc nggak ?

yea all the filter will be in this afternoon so will be changing them early next week. Im using Sheel which is a EURO 2 std:).

HEHEH !! You mean my poster?!:)

just a quick update

I have changed the oil, the filters and the seal that leaks. Everything works fine now. Drives really good im impressed.:bannana:. I used Mobil 1 5w-40.

Now theres a few problems still.

1. the circuit that control the drivers seat is sucking up 1 amp of juice. So will be chasing up some prices for it.

2. when i was takin out the fuel filter i broke one of the plastic hook that hooks onto the fuel filter itself. Now can anybody let me know on the part number please? Cos i checked on the EPC nothing. I can see the lines but the part number doesnt pop out. This is in the workshop. An autherized repairer. I really want to replace it just in case it pops out under load and the fuel line will start sucking air and the engine will die.
3. Theres an exhaust leakage from the turbo. Just before the turbo theres an exhaust and its leaking the fumes from there. Will need to replace that as well. If anybody knows the part number for that will be greatly appreciated if you guys let me know.

Other than that im very happy with the car. Lots of power and my old habit comes back lead footed.AHAH!!:D

I've done probably the same mistake whan I changed mine:mad: , if I well remember I broken the plastric clip that hold the pipe that go into the centre of the filter, I've installed a plastic belt (the one that is used to hold tight the electric cable) in order to be sure it's firm in place, obviuosly it's not the best solution

hmm thats a thought. Will try on monday. but i will want to replace it if it doesnt cost too much. any chance of sourcing out the part number?

Ohh guys is it worth it to replace the air filter with a K&N drop in relacement filter?

Also 1998k will it come off if we didnt reinforce the plastic bits with a cable tie? Cange it while we still have plenty of the parts around. probably is just me getting paranoid.

Sorry I don't have any info about part number, sice I've done the work mounths ago I don't remember if there is a number stamped on it, probably no but, in any case, dealer should be able to find out.

As far as performance filters I don't have direct experience but this matter has been discussed several times also here, have a look searching under this section.

As I remember, in my case, I've done a look after few mounths and it's well in place with the strip I mentioned before that seems it's not necessary, but I preferred to install. If I have the possibility I'd like to install a factory clip, in any case, so you are not paranoid, in case we have 2 paranoid!

In any case, for sure, it seems this is a lack of engineering if we had the same problem:)

HAHAHA!! hmm i guess we both wanted to play it safe i guess.
BTW what kind of oil you use in your car? Im using Mobil 1 5w-40 for mine and it seems to like it alot. My car now makes a lot of power standard very different compared to when i forst got the car. Does your car leaks the exhaust fumes at the tubo? Mine does and im in the process of getting the part for it. Still chasing up the part # for it.

I've changed by myself the oil abt 10000km ago. I've utilized Mobil 1 0W40, I know that actually Mercedes Dealer prefer to sell a different Mobil 1 viscosity (5W30 if I'm not wrong) but I preferred to utilize the previous specification, may be more suitable to 270cdi engine, hoping so!

As far as leaks from the turbo no I don't have. I had a different problems, I had some drops of oil out of the inlet manifold that go into the turbo, from the airbox, I've sealed with suitable red paste, I've posted here that problem in a dedicated tread. Hope you'll solve asap

Hi

PS: here you can find some specific information and part numbers for your 270cdi engine
